Em Rio de Janeiro dez jovens procedentes de entornos socioeconômicos tão opostos como Gávea e Rocinha, se encontram para fazer um documentário de criação própria. Os jovens decidem empregar os recursos e conhecimentos facilitados pelo Coletivo Big Tree para explorar cinematograficamente a segregação sócio-espacial do entorno que eles compartilham no dia a dia. O filme descobre as historias pessoais dos moradores de um e do outro lado, ao mesmo tempo que reflete sobre a criação da própria narrativa do documentário. Um testemunho que revela o vácuo dos estereótipos, oferecendo novas atitudes e perspectivas que enxergam um futuro melhor para as duas comunidades, e para a cidade./In Rio de Janeiro, ten young people coming from socioeconomic environments as opposed as the wealthy neighborhood of Gávea and the favela Rocinha, are to make a documentary of their own creation. The young participants decide to use the resources and knowledge facilitated by the Big Tree Collective to cinematically explore the socio-spatial segregation of the environment that they share on their daily lives. The film unveils the personal stories of the inhabitants of one and the other side of the mountain, while reflecting on the creation of a youth-based documentary narrative. An experimental film that brings to the screen a creative testimony that reveals the vacuum of stereotypes, offering new attitudes and perspectives that foresee a better future for both communities, and the city.

Our Mountain
Nosso Morro project had two phases. The first part was a one month workshop about audiovisual formation for 10 young participants aged 15 to 18 years old and naturals from either Gávea or Rocinha, the two neighbourhoods that connect Gávea Street. The second part was the production of a documentary film by the young participants in collaboration with Big Tree Collective. The documentary they made shows the different points of view that the young participants have about the history and the geography of the mountain Morro Dois Irmãos, interpreting and redefining their day to day experience in their own terms. / Nosso Morro esteve composto de duas partes. A primeira parte integra três semanas de seminários de formação audiovisual para jovens de 15 a 18 anos. A segunda parte integra a produção de um filme documentário retratando os diferentes pontos de vista que os jovens participantes têm sobre a história e a geografia do Morro Dois Irmãos, interpretando e redefinindo a vida cotidiana nos seus próprios termos.

What a bad week! We are having rain and production problems, but we keep working. We launched our Indiegogo campaign and we prepared the schedule to finish the filming next week. / Que semana mais ruin! Finally on Monday we continued filming. We share with you some pictures of the people interviewed for the film: Diogo, who lives in Rocinha and works in the American School and Nissa who lived in Rocinha for almost 50 years. Today we continued filming. If everything works correctly we'll finally finish next Monday with a ballet lesson in Dalal Alchcar dance school in Gávea. This morning we finished the filming in Rocinha with a visit to Paulo "Amendoim", the former president of the neighbor's association of the favela, who is now a recognized tour in Rocinha. He received us in his house at 9 am and he talked to us for four hours. We don't have words to explain what its meant for us, for the participants and for the film. Thank you Amendoim! In the afternoon we came back to our general quarter at the American School to interview Valentina, a Brazilian student who explained to us what it means to grow up in this neighborhood and cross all the days the Gávea street to go to school. Thank you Valentina! And to our participant Juanita Ariza who also participated in the interview. / Hoje temos continuado a filmagem. Se todo sair de acordo com o plano, terminaremos a filmagem na próxima segunda feira com a aula de ballet da escola de dança Dalal Achcar na Gávea. Na segunda de manhã terminamos a filmagem na Rocinha com uma visita a Paulo "Amendoim", o antigo presidente da Associação de Moradores da Rocinha, que é hoje em dia um dos guias turísticos mais reconhecidos da Rocinha. Ele recebeu a gente na casa dele as 9 da manhã e conversou com nosco durante cuatro horas. No temos palavras para explicar o que significou para nos, para os participantes e para o filme. Obrigado Amendoim! Na tarde voltamos a o nosso quartel general na Escola Americana para entrevistar a Valentina, uma estudante brasileira que nos explicou o significado de crescer na Estrada da Gávea. Yesterday we finished the filming process with the participants. We were lucky to see a performance in the Cultural and Artistic Center of Ballet Dalal Achcar in Gávea, wher we enjoyed of the dance of four teenagers, as one of our participants conducted an interview with them, talking about what it means to live in Gávea. / Ontem finalizamos o processo de filmagem com os participantes. Tivemos a sorte de asistir a um ensaio no Centro de Arte e Cultura do Ballet Dalal Achcar na Gávea, onde disfrutamos das danças de cuatro jovens, em quanto uma das nossas particpantes fez uma entrevista com elas, falando sobre o significado de morar na Gávea
